Jean Marie Hemesath was born in Protivin, Iowa. She got her undergraduate degree in Math from Mount Mercy College and her Masters at University of Missouri.
She was a beloved Math and Business teacher for high school and college, including Iroquois, Waggner and Manual High Schools.
Jean loved animals and was a longtime docent at the Louisville Zoo. She also was an usher at the Louisville Actor’s Theater, a member of the Serenity Hiking Group and a swimmer at Lakeside Swim Club. Her creative interests were basket-making, knitting and antique restoration. She also was an avid kayaker.
She leaves behind her daughter Carmen, her nephews Kevin Moudry and Jonathan Tupy, her nieces June Moudry, Suzanne Wheeler and Andrea Tupy and brother and sister-in-law Leon and Judy Tupy and many great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents Leonard and Evelyn Tupy, her sister Kay Moudry, nephew Allen Moudry and cousin David Bouska.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Louisville.
