As a personal tech project and actually much closer to my original motivation for getting more involved with the Alumni Association, I have reached Version 0.1 of the ‘Alumni Database’.
Which means: it was created, can be accessed, and updates can be accepted.
I did this database somewhat independent of the activities and tools used to run and manage this website (WHSAA – Waggener Alumni Association) intentionally. The Association Membership is not every WHS graduate, and I wanted to maintain that distinction.
I see the Alumni Database (maybe referred to as Alumni Connect in places) as a PRIMARY resource for the Alumni Association to have updated information about all WHS graduates, and to assist them in communications efforts to carry out their mission.
But I also see needs for the alumni population generally that may be served by a comprehensive and up-to-date info resource about classmates. These would by default be channelled through the Alumni Association, but I think some separation will allow greater progress for everyone.
The Alumni Database can be accessed through Waggener.net (more on that later).
And for fun and use in discussions, I made a diagram showing where all the data has come from that has seeded this database.
