Shon Adams, Business Partnerships Coordinator with Louisville Academies (through KentuckianaWorks.org), shared some extraordinary details about the Louisville Academies program with the WHSAA Board at the March 10 Board Meeting.
Waggener is one of the 15 JCPS high schools using the Academies of Louisville structured approach to preparing students for college and career, and has been since 2017.

How is Waggener doing with the Academy Program?
- Only 3 Academies in the state of Kentucky achieved ‘Model’ status during the last assessment period – and those are the 3 Academies at Waggener High School.
- NCAC (Academies Assessment) leaders and staff visited Waggener the week of March 3 to learn about Waggener and how they are doing what they are doing.
- Waggener’s ‘Post-Secondary Readiness’ (PSR) rate has improved from 30% in 2018 to 79% in 2024.
